Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how RMA Media LLC, a California limited liability company and the owner and operator of Bunk ("RMA Media," "Bunk," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Bunk mobile application, the getbunk.app website, our waitlist, and related services (together, the "Service"). It also describes the privacy rights and choices available to you, including rights under California law. By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. The Service is intended only for individuals who are at least 18 years old.

1. Information you provide to us

• Waitlist information. When you join the waitlist, we collect the information you submit, which may include your name, email address, phone number, and school.
• Account and profile information. When you create a profile in the app, we collect details such as your name, age, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+), gender and the gender of roommate you are looking for, photos, school, class year, housing preference (dorm or off campus), city and neighborhood, monthly budget, move-in timing, and lifestyle answers (for example, cleanliness, sleep schedule, guests, noise, smoking, and pets), along with your bio.
• Verification information.To confirm eligibility, we may collect a school-issued (".edu") or other email address and related verification data.
• Messages and content. The messages you exchange with other users and any other content you submit through the Service.
• Support and communications. Information you provide when you contact us, respond to surveys, or communicate with us.
• Payment information. Subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and our subscription manager. We receive confirmation of your subscription and its status, but we do not collect or store your full payment card number; that is handled by the app stores.

2. Information we collect automatically

• Device and usage data. Information such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, identifiers, and how you interact with the Service (for example, screens viewed, features used, and actions taken), collected through logs and similar technologies.
• Approximate location. To power features such as the map and location-based matching, we may collect approximate location derived from your device or IP address. You can control location permissions through your device settings.
• Cookies and similar technologies. On the website, we use essential cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, and understand usage.

3. Information from third parties

We may receive limited information from the Apple App Store and Google Play (such as subscription status), authentication providers, and service providers that help us operate and secure the Service.

4. How we use your information

• To operate the waitlist and notify you when Bunk launches at your school;
• To create and manage your account, verify eligibility and age, and provide the Service;
• To match you with potential roommates and calculate compatibility estimates;
• To enable messaging and other core features;
• To process and manage subscriptions and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized use;
• To promote safety, moderate content, investigate and act on reports, and enforce our Terms;
• To communicate with you about the Service, including service-related and, where permitted, promotional messages;
• To analyze, maintain, secure, and improve the Service; and
• To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and the rights and safety of others.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only as follows:

• With other users. Your profile information (such as your name, age, photos, school, class year, housing preference, and lifestyle answers) is visible to other users as part of matching, and your messages are shared with the users you message. Please do not include information in your profile that you do not want other users to see.
• With service providers. We share information with vendors that process it on our behalf under contract, including Supabase (database, authentication, storage, and messaging infrastructure), Vercel (website and application hosting), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Apple and Google (app distribution and payment processing).
• For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person, to investigate fraud or abuse, or to enforce our Terms.
• In a business transfer. If RMA Media is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

6. Your choices and rights

You can review and edit your profile at any time, manage device permissions (such as location and notifications), and manage subscriptions in your app store settings. You can delete your account directly in the app, which removes your profile, matches, and messages, subject to limited retention described below. You may also contact us at support@getbunk.app to access, correct, or delete your information.

7. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, provides you with the following rights:

• Right to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it;
• Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions;
• Right to correct inaccurate personal information;
• Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law;
• Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information;
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

The categories of personal information we may collect are: identifiers (such as name, email, phone, and device identifiers); customer records (such as account details); protected classifications you choose to provide (such as age and gender); commercial information (such as subscription status); internet or network activity (such as usage data); approximate geolocation; audio or visual information (such as profile photos); education information (such as your school and class year); and inferences drawn to generate compatibility estimates. We collect this information for the purposes described in Section 4, retain it as described in Section 9, and disclose it to the categories of recipients described in Section 5. To exercise your rights, email support@getbunk.app. We will verify your request and respond as required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

8. Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account or waitlist entry is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our agreements, or maintain security and backups. Content you shared with other users (such as messages) may remain in their accounts.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please protect your account credentials and notify us of any suspected compromise.

10. Children's and minors' privacy

Bunk is intended solely for adults 18 years of age and older. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it and terminate the account. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us immediately at support@getbunk.app.

11. Data storage and international users

The Service is operated in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location.

12. Third-party links and services

The Service may reference or link to third-party websites or services that we do not control. This Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
